Madron 1 Sennen 4
Goal Scorers: Sam Munson x1, Paul Jackson x2, Paul Angove x1
Match Report
Sennen continued their good start to the season with another win and three points over a battling Madron side. Sennen were again without Steve Jones, Jake Barrett, and Luke Jackson through injury plus Phil Buler was also missing through injury. Sennen were also without Ben and Ollie George through suspension. On a plus Jamie Simons made a miraculous recovery after returning to the team after just two weeks after being told he would miss seven weeks with an ankle injury. Sennen knew that after Madron's 11-0 defeat on the opening weekend that we should not take anything for granted and that we had to work hard to get a result. Sennen again started with the 4-5-1 formation which worked so well against Newlyn.
First Half Analysis
For the first 20 minutes Sennen carried there good form over from there victory over Newlyn playing some good football in the process. Then Sennen started to drop the tempo and intensity of their game and allowed Madron back into the game with both team creating some chances. It was Sennen who took the lead when a great tackle by Rob Spence on the half way line lead to Paul Jackson crssing the ball into the Madron box causing a mad scramble which resulted in a goal for Sam Munson 1-0 and surely more were to follow, but credit to Madron they equalised about 10 minutes later when a defensive lapse gave Madron a good chance to level the score which they duly took slotting the ball past Jamie Millard. 1-1 HT
Second Half Analysis
Sennen started the second half similar to how the first half ended with both teams looking a little nervy on the ball and creating chances. Midway through the half Sennen changed to a 4-4-2 formation which seemed to give them a greater threat going forward. Sennen's first real chance came half way through the second half when a Jack Jevon corner fond Rob Spence at the back post who then knocked the ball back across goal for Paul Jackson to nod into the Goal 2-1. Surely we could hold on the lead this time... Sennen soon made it 3-1 when after some nice football the ball was crossed in form the right hand side and nodded into the net by Paul Angove. Paul Jackson grabbed his second and Sennen's forth when another Jack Jevon corner was whipped into the box and flicked goalwards beating the keeper. 4-1 and thats how it finished
Two wins on the trott, great start to the season! |

Sponsored Walk 2010
To raise some much needed money for Sennen FC several team members have expressed a desire to take part in a sponsored walk from St Ives to Lands End across the costal path (approx 30 miles), the date for this walk is still to be confirmed but is likley to be early September. If anyone would like to sponsor the club please see one of the players who should all have a sponsorship form. Anyone who doesn't have a form please see Luke to get one.
The team member who raises the least amount of sponsorship will face a forfeit which will decided by the Manager at a later date.
If anyone can come up with any other methods to raise money, please bring it up with anyone of the players, Chris or Jean. Thanks |

Sennen Vs Newlyn 2010 |

Sennen 1 Newlyn 0
Goal Scorer: Jack Jevon
Match Report
Sennen got off to a great start in the new campaign winning 1-0 against Newlyn, after a couple of indifferent performances pre-season Sennen needed a good performance against a strong Newlyn team.
Sennen welcome back Phil Butler and Jack Jevon to the squad this season which will add depth and competition to the team, But were without any recognisable wingers with Steve Jones, Jake Barrett, and Jaime Symons all out injured.
Sennen started the game with a 4-5-1 formation with Jamie Millard in goal, defenders Ollie George, Ben George, Rob Spence, and Jeb Wilby, in midfield were Jamie Nicholls, Matt Lowe, Dave Rowe, Paul Angove and Phil Butler with Paul Jackson playing up front on his own.
First Half Analysis
Sennen looked confident from the first whistle, playing some nice fluid football on a calm sunny day, the three central midfielders were gelling very well and caused newlyn problems through out. Sennen created a couple of chances for Sennen to take the lead. Paul Jackson was fed the ball from midfield and put Jamie Nicholls through on goal but shot wide, Matt Lowe hit a crashing shot from the corner of the eighteen yard box which crashed against the crossbar and was cleared by the Newlyn defence. Jamie Nicholls then had a half chance when a ball over gave Jamie a sighter of goal but his half volley went wide. Newlyn looked good on the ball but didn't create much in terms of efforts on goal. Paul Jackson ran tirelessly up front chasing ever ball that came his way, and the defence were strong and played a much higher line than normal which worked well. A good 1st half of football from Sennen
Second Half Analysis
The first 15 mins of the second half were very similar to the first with Sennen on top and playing nice football, after that it was a case of you attack for 5 mins then we will with both teams having spells of attacking football. Jamie Millard pulled of one superb save tipping a shot over the bar, and smuthering another when coming out to narrow the angle from another shot on goal by Newlyn. Sennen made a couple of changes midway through the second half with Jack Jevon and Sam Munson coming on to replace Phil Butler and Jamie Nicholls. This seemed to disrupt the flow to Sennens play for a couple of minutes while the subs got up to speed with the game. Newlyn looked to take the game to Sennen in the last 10 minutes and were looking dangerous without creating a clear cut chance. Sennen played some nice counter attacking football today and it was a counter attack which lead to the goal when the ball was played through for Jack Jevon who brilliantly turned the defender and stroked the ball past the Newlyn keeper making it 1-0. The last couple of minutes were nervy with Newlyn desperately trying to get on level terms but Sennen defended stoutly and hung on for the win and all three points. Great start to the season, A clean sheet and all three points. Well Deserved!!! |

Sennen FC 2010/2011 Season
Following the Annual AGM Meeting Sennen FC players and supporters were addressed on several matters which needed to be addressed for the coming season.
Committee Members Jean Nicholas, Chris Angove, and Alice Angove were present and several topics were brought up.
1/ Last Season
2/ League Structure
3/ Appointment Of Committee Members for the following season
4/ Training
5/ Club Finances
6/ Kit and Equipment
1/ Last Season
Sennen's Chairman Chris Angove said a few words on the past season saying that we had done well to stay in this division and that we had set out to do what we had intended at the start of the season by finishing outside of the bottom 3 and there for staying in division 1. Then co-manager Paul Angove agreed with Chris and congratulated the players on a good first season, but made the point that we should look to win a trophy this season which everyone at the club agreed with.
2/ League Structure
At the end of next season the league structure will change and the Mining League will merge with the Falmouth/Helston League. The top 7 teams of Mining One (the league were in) will join with the top 7 teams in the Falmouth/Helston One in a newly names Premier Division the bottom 7 teams in the Divisions will make up the new Division 1 and so on.
3/ Appointment of committee members for the following season
As its the start of a new season all committee members had to be re appointed by the players and supporters. The first appointment was a manager, with Chris May and Paul Angove ending the season as tempary co managers. Unfortunately Chris May could not attend the AGM. It was felt amongst the players that both Chris and Paul had done a good job for the team after taking over half way through the season. Jean had informed all in attendance that Chris May only wanted to stay on if he was to remain the manager of the club and that he did not want to be an assistant manager. After lengthy discussions Paul Angove was eventually appointed the new manager with Steve Jenkin his assistant. We would all like to thank Chris May for everything he has done for the club over the years.
Alice Angove was re-appointed as the Secretary with Chris Angove being re-appointed as the Chairman. Jean Nicholas stepped down as the clubs treasurer and as no-one stepped forward I (Luke Jackson) was put forward by Geoff Jones (Thanks Geoff lol) and Jean Nicholas as they thought i was the best person for the job. I didn't want the responsibility of the job but felt that the club would fold if i didn't accept the role so i decided to give it a go for the well being of the club.
4/ Training
The players were informed that training would start soon and that we would be training twice a week, Sundays and Wednesdays with Sundays being fitness training and Wednesdays being football based training at least until the start of the season. Everyone was happy with the additional training session.
5/ Club Finances
Jean gave us a run down of the clubs financial situation and how much was spent of various things. Overall the finances were quite good, but it was decided that we need to arrange some sort of sponsorship to help pay towards match day costs. Players were also asked or other means of revenue that the club could look into and several things were brough up like pub quiz's which will be discussed further once the season has started.
6/ Kit and Equipment
It was brought up that the current kit was getting short of socks and shorts and that we needed some more ordering which is being arranged. Also the players felt that a new step ladder was needed to help take the nets down at the end of a game. Also the current balls we have at our disposal were decided to be inappropiate and new ones will desperately needed. Andrew Munson offered to buy the club some new match balls which we all thank him for. |
